INDIANAPOLIS—In response to Attorney General Todd Rokita’s advisory opinion suggesting that terminated pregnancy reports are public records, Indiana Attorney General Candidate Destiny Wells made the following statement:
"Hoosier women are outraged by Attorney General Todd Rokita’s actions today regarding private health data,” stated Destiny Wells, candidate for Indiana Attorney General. “There is no excuse for subjecting Hoosiers to Todd Rokita’s state sanctioned breach of patient confidentiality.”
Todd Rokita has relentlessly campaigned on abortion politics, landing Indiana on a national stage by leading a recent amicus brief demanding the power to restrict women's reproductive rights.
"Rokita’s crusade to reveal Hoosiers’ private medical data as public records is especially ironic,” concluded Wells. “Especially when Rokita has rejected repeated requests for public data that would reveal exactly how much taxpayers have paid for Rokita’s ongoing disciplinary issues in the Attorney General’s office.” right to determine their own healthcare.”
