I’m Destiny Wells, and I’m running for Congress in Indiana’s 7th District because this is personal.

I grew up in a blue-collar family where hard work wasn’t optional. It was expected. I carried that with me as I built my career, first in uniform and later as a practicing attorney. I worked to become a professional, earn credibility, and serve in institutions that demand accountability. And even now, I find myself still knocking on the door of political change because too often the people making decisions don’t live with the consequences of them.

I’m a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve. I took an oath to defend the Constitution, and I take that seriously. That oath requires independence. It requires the willingness to stand firm, even when it’s inconvenient.

But I’m not just a lawyer or an officer. I’m a mom.

My family and I live in Center Township, where we are raising our two children in this community. They are growing up here. They go to school here. They will inherit whatever we build or fail to build in this district. When I think about housing costs, public safety, infrastructure, and the direction of our country, I’m thinking about the world they will step into as adults.

Indiana’s 7th is a safe Democratic district. That should give us leverage in Washington. It should mean visible leadership and real legislative work. When a seat becomes predictable, though, urgency can slip. Families don’t have the luxury of drift. We are living these pressures now.

I’m not running to preserve a title. I’m running because I want my children and every child growing up in this district to see that leadership is accountable and present. I want them to know their community has a voice that cannot be sidelined or quietly managed.

Change isn’t abstract for me. It’s happening around my kitchen table.

And it really is that simple.
